The New Quito International Airport is located on the Oyamburo plain near the town of Tababela at an altitude of 2411 meters (7910 feet). It has a single runway that is 4098 x 45 meters (13,445 x 148 feet). While the driving distance is only 35 kilometers (22 miles) from downtown Quito, it can take 2-3 hours to drive to downtown due to high traffic and poor roadway infrastructure in and around the airport.

The General Aviation terminal is currently under construction and should be completed in April or May of 2013. Currently all GA crew and passengers must clear customs/immigrations at the International Terminal.

Even though security guards and lighting are available at the airport, physical security is recommended due to its isolation.

An alternative to using SEQM when going to Quito is Latacunga/SELT. It is 90 kilometers (56 miles) from downtown Quito, but the drive time is only around 80 minutes. Handling arrangements can be made there with 24 hours advance notice.

JetHandling has been asked to run the General Aviation terminal with a VIP lounge available at main terminal and domestic terminal. They also provide local tours to explore this beautiful city and its surroundings.
